Achim G. Hila

Achim G. Hila, age 83, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of 58 years of Flora Hila, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Born in Sibiu, Romania one of 11 children of the late Gherasim and Paraschiva Hila, he came to Bridgeport in 1996 and retired from the Villa Avenue Stop & Shop. Mr. Hila was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to driving his granddaughter to school daily. He enjoyed painting horses, spending time in his garden and fishing. In addition to his devoted wife Flora, he will be sadly missed by his two beloved children, Radu Hila and his companion Mariana Grozav of Fairfield and Atena Ancuta and her fiancé Donald Utz of Fairfield; a loving granddaughter, Joanna and her husband Robert Boback of Fairfield; two cherished great-grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia Boback; a sister Paraschiva Vintila of Sibiu, Romania; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. A funeral liturgy will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
