Mr. Albert Junior Meredith, age 89, of Westport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May
3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Albert was born on January 11, 1929 in Olathe,
Kansas to the late Gertrude Benson Meredith and the late Albert Thomas Meredith. Graduating
from Shawnee-Mission High School in 1946, Albert then went on to serve in the United States
Navy until 1947. Albert married his beloved Bettilou in 1951, and she preceded him in death in
2010. Also preceding Albert in death were his sisters Alberta Smith, Elnora Johnson, and
brother Milo Meredith.
Albert is survived by his three sons and four grandchildren: Randall Van Meredith and his wife
Deborah Holt-Meredith of Navarre, Florida; Timothy Granville Meredith and his wife Beth Ann
Meredith of Hopatcong, New Jersey, along with their children Dean Albert Meredith of
Hopatcong, New Jersey, and Kate Elizabeth Meredith of West Valley, Utah; Lance Bradford
Meredith and his wife Holly Meredith of Santa Rosa, California, along with their children Albert
Paul Meredith and Oscar Chi Tam Meredith of Santa Rosa, California. Albert is also survived by
his sister Irene Beard of Kearney, MO.
Albert Meredith had a long and successful career in the Office Equipment Industry. At 18 years
of age, he began his career in the camera department of AM International. During his 38 years
of dedicated service, and after multiple assignments all over the United States, Albert rose to
District Sales Manager of New York City, overseeing the most successful printing sales division
in the United States. He retired from AM International in 1985, and opened his new company,
Printing World, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, offering printing services for 20 more years until his
retirement from professional service in 2005.
Albert enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for his late wife Bettilou. As a member
of the Black Rock Congregational Church for 45 years, he also enjoyed serving his church
community as President of the Sunday school class and Chairman of the Board of Deacons.
Albert will forever be remembered for his beloved storytelling around the family dinner table, his
smiling, kind eyes, and his wise words of wisdom.
Albert's family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dorota Adams, Signe Merrit, and Beverly
Amosah and her staff at Vitas Healthcare for their dedicated and loving end-of-life care for Dad.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jim Marshall, on
Monday, May 7, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black
Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Vitas
Community Connections, a non-profit organization supporting hospice patients.
