Alice Barbara Lyon

Alice Barbara Lyon, age 94 of Fairfield, beloved wife of 60 years of Francis Lyon went home to be with her Lord Sunday, August 17, 2014 in her home. Born in Seleucia, Syria, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Midney, she had been a Fairfield resident for the last 57 years. She attended Booth and Baylis Business School and was employed as a secretary for many years at General Electric and also worked for other local businesses. Alice was a disciplined and accomplished figure skater and loved to watch Olympic events with her family too. When her children were grown, she took numerous trips all over the world with her husband including Egypt, Eastern Europe before the fall of the Berlin wall, and Hawaii. She was a member of Black Rock Congregational Church for the last 48 years where she was a devoted Bible teacher. Alice also taught Bible class at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital and out of her home. She was dedicated to spending time with, and caring for her family and friends. Survivors in addition to her husband Francis include three beloved children, Mark H. Lyon of San Francisco, CA, David F. Lyon of New York City and Daniel Lyon and his wife Beverly of Ridgefield; a brother, John Midney; a sister, Antonette Wedge; two cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Kathryn Lyon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Midney and a sister, Jenny Kalakay. A service celebrating her life will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gathering Room at Black Rock Congregational Church, Fairfield. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
