Allen J. Norrell, Jr.

Allen J. Norrell, Jr. of Trumbull died at home with his family on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was 83. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda (Ford) Norrell and his loving children, Megan and Christopher. He was a New Jersey native, born in Orange, NJ in 1938 to Allen J. Norrell, Sr. and Kathleen (Lynch) Norrell. A graduate of Seton Hall University (1960), Mr. Norrell taught school for several years before he was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT in 1967. He was assistant pastor to congregations in Bridgeport and Newtown, and in 1970 he became Chaplain at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown. Allen left the priesthood in 1975, taking a job with Citytrust Bank (later, Chase Manhattan Bank). It was there he met his wife-to-be, Linda Ford of Fairfield; they were married the following year. After retiring from Chase Bank in 2001, he enjoyed a quiet retirement with what he loved most: his family, his rose garden, books, college basketball, and the Mets (when they were winning).

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield from 4-7pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.

A full length obituary will be available and posted here within the coming days.
