Alonzo C. Kiser

Alonzo C. Kiser, age 93, formerly of Fairfield, husband of the late Emily V Flewelyn, father of the late Sue LeFort and Ted Kiser passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Chartwell Medical Center in Norwood, MA. He was born September 5, 1922 in Matewan, WV to the late Cleo and Ben Kiser. Alonzo was the oldest of thirteen children. At 18 he moved to Bridgeport, CT and met and soon married the love of his life Emily on September 1, 1942 in Bridgeport. Alonzo was part of the war effort and on the 23rd day of June 44, he and all elements of the 486th landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France. After the war Alonzo and Emily settled in their beloved Fairfield. He worked at first for DuPont of Fairfield and later at Raybestos of Stratford, CT as a lab technician. Alonzo was a man of many talents including wood carving, nature, history and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, but his family was the most important thing to him. Alonzo is survived by his loving four grand-children, Travis McCally and family of Wrentham, MA, Phillip McCally and family of North Attleboro, MA, Martha Minkel and Family of Oakland Maine, and Seth Kiser and family of Portland Oregon, and 6 great grand-children. A memorial service will be held for Alonzo on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM meeting directly at the First Church Congregational, Fairfield.
