Amelia Kowats

Amelia C. Kowats,100, lifelong resident of Fairfield passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2025. Amelia was born in Fairfield on June 8, 1924 to the late John and Mary Baldino Grassi. beloved wife of 47 years to the late James Kowats. She was also preceded in death by her sister Marguerite Pelletier, and her brother, John Grassi.

Amelia enjoyed a wonderful life filled with love and laughter. Family was everything to her and she loved nothing more than doting on and caring for her loved ones. She also loved to read and she enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. 

Amelia is survived by her children James (Sue) Kowats, and Janice Kowats. She is the treasured grandmother to Jenny and her husband Kevin, and James and his partner Kristen. Her greatest joy in life was being a great-grandmother to 3 beautiful great-granddaughters, Megan, Lucy, and Avery Mae.

Services were private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s research hospital.
