Angelo A. Minei

Angelo A. Minei, age 85, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Constance Mary (Rahgo) Minei, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Giacomo and Paolina Minei, he had been a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Central High School, Mr. Minei received a BA in Education from the University of Bridgeport and his Masters and Sixth Year Certificate from Fairfield University. He was a dedicated educator in the Bridgeport School system and taught at many schools throughout his career. Angelo served as Principal at Sheridan School and Blackham Middle School. He was a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Mr. Minei loved music of all kinds and was a voracious reader. The most important thing in his life was his family. He loved spending time with his large extended family which usually involved enjoying a wonderful meal and lively conversation. He relished in his role as a grandfather and delighted in attending all of his grandchildren's special events. A truly gentle man, whose positive outlook on life was contagious. "Viva la Famiglia" Angelo is survived by six beloved and devoted children and their families: James Minei of Fairfield, Lorraine Cappella and her husband Stephen of Hamden, Donna Minei of Monroe, Marie Muthersbaugh and her husband James and their children, Mary and James of Bethel, Lisa Dundon and her husband Robert of Monroe, and Sarah Ludlow and her husband Wess and their children Digby, Quinn and Willow of Preston; a loving sister, Catherine Rossi of Shelton, two special nieces, Linda Finocchi and her husband Doug of Monroe; Deborah Walls and her husband Noel of Newtown and a nephew Patrick Lane and his wife Katrina of Fairfield; two special family friends considered the "7th" Minei, Mark Halstead and Karen McCormack (depending on which one you talk to), and a dear lifelong friend, Barbara Lasko. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew DiBlasi and brother-in-law, Columbus Rossi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 13, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption, Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3-7 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
