Anna Susan Benton

Anna Susan Fisher Benton, age 88 of Fairfield, beloved wife of 67 years of Glenn Benton, passed away peacefully Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in Bridgeport the daughter of the late George and Anna Fisher, Sr., she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. Mrs. Benton was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1945 where she had enjoyed serving as Reunion Chairwoman. She graduated from New Haven State Teachers College and received her Masters Degree in Special Education from Fairfield University. Mrs. Benton worked in the Norwalk Public School System for 42 years and was considered a pioneer in Special Education. She was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa professional education association. Sue was a world traveler and was proud to have traveled to all the continents. Survivors in addition to her loving husband Glenn, include a devoted daughter, Bonnie Lindsay and her husband David of Fairfield; two beloved grandsons, Ian Lindsay and his wife Amy and David Lindsay and his wife Victoria; three cherished great-grandchildren, Christian, Brody and Maggie Lindsay and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sue Ann Benton and a brother George A. Fisher, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff at the Carolton Hospital for their loving care during her illness as well as The Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County for their care and comfort during this time. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. (Please enter main gates and follow Spear-Miller signs to gravesite).
