Anna M. Nichthauser, age 94, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD on August 17, 1920 the daughter of the late Lawrance and Irene Long, she had been a Fairfield resident for most of her life. She worked at C.O. Jelliff Corporation in Southport for 33 years prior to retiring. Ann was a fun-loving person. She loved going on trips with her husband, Al; her favorite trip being Hawaii. Ann had many enjoyable visits with her sisters and their families in Winchester, VA. She enjoyed playing Pinochle with her friends, and loved her pets, especially her dog, Patches. Survivors include her son, Robert Short and his wife Sharon of Fairfield; a daughter-in-law, Norma Short of Fairfield; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Nichthauser; a son, John (Jack) Short, and two sisters, Helen Kern and Nellie Woods. The family would like to thank the staff at Carolton's South Wing for their care and compassion provided to Ann the past four years of her life. At the request of the family all services will be private.
