Anthony Joseph Falletta, age 46 of Fairfield, adored husband of Bernadette O'Brien Falletta and loving and supportive father of Joseph Brian and Anthony George, passed away peacefully Monday, October 1, 2018 following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Bronxville, NY, the son of the late Anthony and Bernadette Artino Falletta, had called Fairfield his home for the past 19 years. Anthony was an avid sports enthusiast-with a special fondness for baseball and football. Although he was a loyal Yankees and NY Giants fan, his favorite players were his two sons. Both on the field and off, Anthony supported his sons Joe and lil' Anthony in every way and could always be found on the sidelines, quietly acknowledging their accomplishments with a simple nod of encouragement, a smile of approval, or an enthusiastic clap of the hands. The back nine at H. Smith Richardson with the "crew" was one of his favorite pastimes and he enjoyed afternoon walks on the beach with his wife and their dog Murphy. His love for sand under his feet and open water extended beyond Penfield Beach. The crashing waves of Cape Cod, the pristine sands of Florida, and the tranquil seacoast of South Carolina were also some of his favorite retreats. Anthony was honored to have achieved many goals in his career in sales management, but his family was his greatest source of pride. He found the most joy in spending time with those who mattered most to him-grilling by the backyard pool or sitting by the fire on football Sundays. Anthony made everyone in his life feel welcomed and heard-he listened with intent, laughed with enthusiasm, and offered advice when needed. The kindness, care, concern, and laughter he shared with his dear friends and loved ones brought him strength during his days of struggle.
Anthony felt so much gratitude for the support and care that he received from the all the staff at the Fairfield Smilow Center as he embraced his battle with dignity. Friends may greet the family on Thursday October 4th from 5-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 5th at 10:30 a.m. meeting directly at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private.
