Anton (Tony) Smrecnik

Anton Smrecnik, Jr. (Tony) age 60, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Maria Lourdes Smrecnik, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport the son of the late Anton and Barbara Smrecnik he had been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School and worked as a CNC Machinist at the Heim Bearings Company for over 40 years. Tony loved fishing, cooking and delighted in time spent in his magnificent gardens which he took great pride and pleasure in. He is survived by his treasured wife Maria as well as his loving and devoted daughter, Heather Marie Litke and her husband Joseph Duffey of Naugatuck; five cherished grandchildren, Catharyn Rose McCall, Evan David Carter Litke, Selah, Aidan, and Ewan Duffey; a sister, Anne Romero; two sisters-in-law, Ingrid Fermo and her husband Rocco of Milford, MA and Deborah Tomich and her husband Romerio Olivero of Minas, Brazil; a brother-in-law, Lamartine Britto and his wife Maria of Framingham, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A service celebrating Tony's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Spollett officiating. Interment will be private in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
