Audrey Lucille (Mrs. Eric) Sparre died Saturday morning, November 17, 2016 after a brief illness. Born August 22, 1921 in Sheridan, Wyoming, Audrey was the youngest of five brothers and one sister. While Audrey was young, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she went to school and ultimately took a job working for the Hallmark Greeting Card Company. During this period she met and married Eric Sparre of Wilmington, Delaware who at that time was the General Manager of the Lake City Arsenal in Independence, Missouri. While living in Missouri, Audrey and her husband Eric had two daughters Audrey Diane Sparre and Janet Anne Sparre. In 1963, the Sparre family moved to Southport, Connecticut and after nearly 20 years they relocated to Weston, then Easton and finally to Fairfield, Connecticut where Audrey most recently resided. Throughout her years in Fairfield County, Audrey was an active member of various private clubs including Brooklawn Country Club and the Fairfield Hunt Club. Audrey was an avid golfer, bowler and tennis player, as well bridge player. She was also a member of the Southport Congregational Church. Audrey was predeceased by Eric, her husband of 50 years and is survived by her daughters Janet Anne Sparre of Westport, CT, Audrey Diane Sparre of Westport, CT and her granddaughter Else Sparre Ross of Boston, MA and many nieces and nephews.
