Barbara Jean Farquhar

Barbara Jean Farquhar, age 84, of Westport, beloved wife of 60 years of Richard J. (Bud) Farquhar, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Thursday, March 15, 2018. Born in Redlands, CA the daughter of the late Manual and Gloria Penacho, she had been a Westport resident for the last 42 years. Barbara worked as an office administrator for various banking, insurance and real estate companies and also owned her own pet sitting business. She was a parishioner of St. Luke Church. Barbara was a voracious reader, extraordinary cook and an indoor plant enthusiast. She enjoyed swimming and was a member of the Westport YMCA. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family. Survivors in addition to her husband Bud include three beloved children, Richard J. Farquhar, Jr. and his wife Shelli of Marietta, GA, Amy L.F. Jackson and her husband Peter of Milton, GA and Lori A. Brasher of Westport, and 6 cherished grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Joanne Heeney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 84 Long Lots Road, Westport. Interment will be in Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, CA. Friends may greet the family Friday, March 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
