Barbara Brunton Kime, 93, of Loudon, TN, formerly of Southbury and Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully Saturday March 28, 2020 under hospice care. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Kime. Barbara was born June 19, 1926, in the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late William Ellsworth Brunton and Alberta Hughes. She grew up in Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, NYU, and a teacher at Columbia University. Barbara, known as Bobbie to her many friends, later worked in Scarsdale NY teaching first grade. Barbara and her husband lived in White Plains NY with their three children. She loved her community and teaching and spent much of her time volunteering at White Plains Hospital and tutoring elementary students. The family later moved to Fairfield. Barbara's later years were spent at Heritage Village in Southbury, where she was a member of United Church of Christ. Barbara most loved her family. She was an incredible mother and grandmother. She especially loved family gatherings, and was selfless by nature providing for all. She took pride daily in each of their accomplishments. Barbara enjoyed golf and traveling the world; having visited all but two countries. She most enjoyed her time in Africa participating in over a half dozen Safaris. Her favorite was the great Migration across the continent and watching her beloved giraffes. Barbara will be remembered for her loving giving nature and sense of adventure. From Kilimanjaro, the great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, to the ruins of Egypt and beyond, Barbara felt and lived life to the fullest, experiencing the true joy all the world had to offer. Barbara leaves behind her three children, Candice Kime Flormann and husband Ron, of Prospect CT, Kimberly Kime Ruggiero and husband Gus, of Shelton CT, and Dr. Charles Brunton Kime and wife Amanda of Vonore TN. She also leaves behind her grandchildren that adored her; Alexandra Flormann and fiancé Sean Ziller, of Allentown PA, Victoria Flormann of Boston MA, William Flormann (US Army), Fairbanks AK, Daniel Ruggiero of Ansonia CT, Brittany Ruggiero and husband Tim Kearns of Cheshire CT, Samantha Kime of Avon CT, Harrison Kime of Pittsburgh PA, Bryan Mitchell and fiancé Molly Walker of Madisonville TN, Brittney Mitchell, husband Henry and great granddaughter Haisley of Madisonville TN. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Swain. Services will be held privately. Donations may be made to the National Wildlife Federation https://www.nwf.org/.
