Barbara Patricia Ryan

Barbara P. Ryan of Wilton, CT and formerly of West Yarmouth, MA and Fairfield, CT and widow of Donald Ryan passed on April 10, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital. She was born in Norwalk, CT September 12, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Oravez. She attended Norwalk High School. She lived with her beloved late husband of 62 years and family in Fairfield for over 20 years. She was a parishioner and a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. She moved to Cape Cod in 1984 and returned to Connecticut in 2014. She loved cooking, watching the Food Network, gardening, art, making dried flower arrangements, and traveling. She was an enthusiastic Red Sox and Patriots fan. Barbara is survived by her son, James, Jr of Paoli, PA, her daughter , Robin of Fairfield, CT, and two grandchildren. Her younger son, Dennis, passed in 1994. The viewing will be held at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home on 39 South Benson Rd in Fairfield on Friday, April 17 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on 1719 Post Rd in Fairfield on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00am. A reception at the Gaelic American Club on 74 Beach Rd also in Fairfield will follow immediately after the Mass. The Ryan family is most appreciative of the health professionals and staff at Norwalk Hospital and Brookdale Place for their dedication and care.
