Barry Anthony Stern, age 79, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Virginia (Holecz) Stern (Ginny), passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in New York City the son of the late David and Catherine Stern, he had been a lifelong Fairfield area resident. He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Stern's career in automobile sales spanned many years and included sales positions at the Keating and Park City Ford dealerships. He was an avid chess player, but his main emphasis in life was spending time with his beloved children especially his cherished and adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Virginia include six beloved children, Christopher D. Stern of Bridgeport, Bruce A. Stern and his wife Sandra of Fairfield, Brian W. Stern and his wife Lori Sue of Stratford, Leslie Markey and her husband John of Fairfield, Kenneth Everlith and his wife Valerie of Deltona, FL and Krysti Lynn Everlith of Fairfield; a brother, Peter L. Stern and his wife Judy of Fairfield; a sister, Suzanne E. Tucci and her husband Frank of Sun City Center, FL; eighteen grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, Bruce A. II, Samuel P., Thomas, Payton, Andrew, Trevor, Graciann, Bret, Howard, Brody, Kerriann, Katie, Isabel, Aldo (Christian), Andrea and Alex; two great-grandchildren, Jocelynn and Noah; a sister-in-law, Kathy Stern of Milford; his former wife and friend, Marylou Stern of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael P. Stern and Richard B. Stern. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Cipriani officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
