Beatrice Mae (Bette) Blaze

Beatrice Mae (Bette) Blaze, age 88, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John Blaze went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Joseph's Care Center, Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Robert and Esther McClune, she had been a lifelong Bridgeport and Stratford resident. Bette was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and instilling her Christian values upon her loved ones. A devout follower of Christ, she was an active lifelong member of Black Rock Congregational Church where she participated in the Married Couples and Young-At-Heart groups. She loved gardening and flower arranging. Survivors include four beloved children, John Blaze, Jr. and his wife Jeane of Trumbull, Rebecca Mitchell and her husband Brian of Shelton, Daniel Blaze and his wife Gina of Easton and Lee Blaze of Seymour; six cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, John, III, Jeffery, Lindsay and Daniel; two great-granddaughters, Magen and Evalie; a sister, Doris Russo of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Howard McClune and a sister, Mona Caligure. A funeral service celebrating Bette's life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gathering Room at Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the service. Interment will be held in the spring in Lawn Cemetery, Huntington.
