Brenna Marie LaPort Spencer, long-time resident of Fairfield CT and Adams MA, died unexpectedly June 28, 2018 at her home in Bridgeport, CT at the age of 49.
Born in North Adams, MA on June 3, 1969, Brenna is survived by her three sons Harrison, Bennett and Colin of Fairfield, CT; one brother Josh (Petr Mensik) LaPort of Brussels, Belgium, one sister Erin (Doug) Batchelder of Topsfield, MA, her mother Linda Harrison LaPort of Edgewater FL, and her father Victor LaPort of Clarksburg, MA. She was employed as an administrative assistant at IPSOS in Norwalk CT at the time of her passing.
Brenna graduated from Bay Path College in Longmeadow MA with an Associate's degree in 1989 and worked in New York City law firms as an executive assistant and benefits manager through much of the 1990s.
Upon moving to Fairfield, CT in 1998 she turned her energies toward raising her three sons and became a spirited member of the community through her volunteer work with local Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops of which her sons were members. She was active in local outreach programs including Welcome Club, Operation Hope and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. She was an enthusiastic parent-volunteer in her sons' schools and the parish of St. Paul's in Fairfield and served as Secretary on the Board of the St. Paul's nursery school. She regularly fundraised for the American Cancer Society, Jimmy Fund and most fondly for the St. Paul's Boys & Girls Choir, which all of her sons sang in from a young age. Her enthusiasm for the Choir brought her to Europe, most recently in 2016, to hear them sing in cathedrals across England.
Brenna adored cooking--especially for family and friends-70s music and reunions with her mother in Florida; she was an avid bicyclist, and loved hiking ever-higher Appalachian peaks with her sons.
A viewing will take place Saturday, July 7th, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road, Fairfield with the Rev. Alice Mindrum officiating.
