Bruce J. Letsch

Bruce J. Letsch, age 77, beloved husband of Beth (Minton) Letsch, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday April 21, 2024.  Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Henry and Mary Letsch, he had been a Fairfield resident for over 70 years.   Bruce graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and later took technical courses to become a mechanic.  His career as a Master Line Mechanic spanned many years including positions at Bullard’s, McKesson’s and ultimately retiring from Clairol.  Bruce loved being a mechanic and had a successful side business repairing lawnmowers.  He would come home from work, grab a quick dinner and drink and work hours on lawnmowers.  When his health condition prevented him from physically doing the work, he would sit and provide instructions and techniques to those repairing their own mowers.  He was a true craftsman.  Bruce was also an avid and accomplished trumpet player.  He was influenced by his father who played bugle in the armed forces and Bruce took private lessons at a young age.  He played in various bands, most notably the Austrian Boys Band and would often play at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in his earlier years and later at First Church Congregational, Fairfield.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Fidelity –St. John’s Lodge # 3 A.F. & A.M.  His greatest joy however was spending time with his family.  In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Beth, he will be sadly missed by his two beloved children: Kevin M. Letsch and his girlfriend, Jennie of Fairfield and Amy B. Tobey and her husband, Chris of Wilton; three cherished grandchildren: Olivia Letsch of Fairfield, Ryann Tobey and Jillian Tobey of Wilton; a brother, Glenn Letsch and his wife Anne of Walnut Creek, CA; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Letsch of  North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a nephew and two nieces, Mark Letsch, Wendy Letsch Bauer and Ali Letsch.  He was predeceased by his brother Henry “Hank” Letsch.  A Memorial service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational with the Rev. Vanessa Payne Rose, and Rev. Suzanne Wagner co-officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to offset outstanding medical bills and final arrangements for Bruce J Letsch via this Gofundme link .
