Byron Clarence Phelps

Byron C. Phelps, age 91, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Betty Jane Phelps, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2015. Byron was born in Zanesville, Ohio, and raised in New Haven before moving to Fairfield. He enlisted in the United States Army during WWII mainly in the European Theatre where he served as a scout. Byron was also a well known and beloved client of Grasmere by the Sea. Survivors include daughter Katherine Nelson of Shelton; a son Byron C. Phelps, Jr. of Joppa Town, MD and daughter Linda Eastwood of Fairfield, brother Richard Phelps of Fairfield, niece Debbie Phelps of Torrington, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Dawn Phelps. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Rd., Fairfield with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
