Carolyn Janasy Peirce, born in Nutley, New Jersey on November 1, 1940, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 26, 2018. A graduate of Nutley High School and Douglass College, Cary moved to Fairfield in 1977 and was well known for her contagious sense of humor and quick wit. Cary devoted her life to the betterment and enrichment of the community she called home. Establishing lifelong friends through her work with organizations such as the Fairfield Museum, Garden Club, Women in Finance, Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), Greenfield Hill Church and the Nantucket Wine Festival. She was a voracious reader, world traveler and enjoyed painting, gardening, and yoga. While not one known to carry a tune by herself, she also enjoyed trips to NYC, attending shows and supporting the arts.Cary joins her husband, George "Tim" Peirce in heaven and is survived by her sister, Isabel Stromsem and her husband, William of Bethesda, MD, along with her brother, Jeffrey Janasy, of St. Petersburg, FL, daughters Amanda Soderlund and her husband, Karl of Southport, CT and Jennifer Peirce and fiancé Carey Strout of Danbury, CT, along with three grandchildren Aidan, Jacqueline and Cooper and several precious nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield, with services following on Saturday July 14, 2018 at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Rd., Fairfield, at 11am.
