Catherine Robstock Greenwood, age 88, of Fairfield, formerly of Bridgeport and Westbrook, beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Greenwood, Sr., passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Wilson) Robstock, she had been a longtime resident of Bridgeport and Westbrook, and had been a Fairfield resident for the last 10 years. Mrs. Greenwood attended St. Augustine Grammar School, Lauralton Hall and Danbury State Teachers College, and worked as a librarian for the Bridgeport Public Library. She was a dedicated lifelong parishioner of Saint Augustine's Cathedral and also volunteered teaching reading in various Bridgeport Schools. Catherine's greatest joy in life was raising her family. She loved attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and school functions. She will be fondly remembered as a good, kind, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who delighted in time spent with her large extended family. She will be sadly missed by her six children, Thomas J. Greenwood, Jr. of Bridgeport, John Greenwood and his wife Diane and their children Patrick and Kristin of Wayne, PA, Chris Greenwood and his wife Debby and their children, Kara, Mary Jo, Meggie, Ginny, Keeley, Rod, Aly and Michael of Trumbull, Jim Greenwood and his wife Karen and their children, Emma and Ian of Fairfield, Katie O'Connell and her husband Tucker and their children, Katie, Mary, Elizabeth, Colleen and Erin of Fairfield, and Frank Greenwood and his wife Dee and their children, Samantha, Frankie, and Joey of Wakefield, MA; two sisters, Sally Shea and Jean Sedensky; brother and sister-in-law Dick and Jane Greenwood and brothers-in-law, Stan Greenwood and Chuck Felix; a sister-in-law, Helen Greenwood; and 37 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Dick Shea, Steve Sedensky, Bob Greenwood, John Greenwood and his wife Charlotte, and sisters-in-law, Ruth Felix and Jenny Greenwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at The Cathedral Church of St. Augustine, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
