Catherine (Cathy) Elizabeth Corso Krushinski, age 86 of Bridgeport, loving wife of over 58 years to the late Eugene (Gene) Krushinski went home to be with our Lord on February 26, 2021 in the Memory Care Facility at the Watermark 3030 Park. Born in Bridgeport, CT on August 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Ponski Corso, the last living sibling of four sisters and two brothers and was a longtime Bridgeport and Fairfield resident. Cathy was a devout Catholic and loved the Sunday dinner get togethers at their home with all the family present, holiday celebrations and having parties for whatever the reason might be. She worked many years on the night shift in banking where she gained many lasting friendships and her last position was with the Town of Fairfield in the Planning & Zoning Department from which she finally retired. Even with working she managed to find the time to volunteer at St. Vincent’s Hospital in short stay and also after the collapse of L’Ambiance Plaza. After retirement she enjoyed just driving around in the car for hours, with frequent stops at St. Mary’s by the Sea, the cemetery to visit her husbands grave and the Marina to watch the boats going in and out of the harbor. As her memory declined, she could no longer drive herself and two wonderful angels, Sheila and Sally entered her life and continued to take her to all of her happy places. Her son, Kenny became her primary care giver until this was no longer possible. We found a new home for her in the Memory Care Facility at the Watermark. She was extremely happy there, making new friends, doing arts and crafts, Thursday outings for lunch, and walking around like she was the “Mayor” of the place. Cathy considered this her place of work now. Once Covid hit, many things changed and life for her became more difficult to adjust to. We are extremely happy that she never forgot who her children are. In early January, she was diagnosed with Covid and between several trips to the hospital and back to the Watermark this caused the Alzheimer’s to become worse and the decline was rapid. We came to realize she was never going to be the person she was before. We are all certainly going to miss this wonderful lady in our lives. Survivors include her sons and daughter in law, Anthony (Tony) and Diane Krushinski of Fairfield, Kenny Krushinski of Newtown and daughter, Michele Krushinski of Shelton. Cherished grandmother of Sarah and Bryan White of Trumbull, Krista Krushinski and her fiancé Jerry Clark of Winchester, VA, Craig and Christine (Kornacki) Krushinski of Shelton, Michael and Destini Krushinski of Winchester, VA, adored great grandchildren Blake and Taylor White of Trumbull, Zephyr Krushinski of Winchester, VA, sister/ brother in law, Lucy and Richard Kuroghlian of Fairfield and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, March 4th from 9:00-10:00 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10:00 am. Face masks and social distancing will be required. The Mass will be viewable via Zoom and details can be found on Cathy’s obituary page at www.SpearFuneralHome.com. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Project from the Heart, C/O Shirley Sambrook, 314 Shoreham Village Dr., Fairfield, CT 06824.
