Charles W. Hoyt, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, April 13, 2022, to be united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and with his beloved wife of 59 years, truly the love of his life, Margie, and precious daughter, Sandy.
Charlie leaves behind a legacy of his two daughters, Lisa Thompson and Susan Hoyt (Mark); three treasured grandchildren, Jeffrey Thompson (Avery), Andrew Thompson, and Jessica Berish; and a cherished great-grandson, Chase Thompson. He is also survived by his best friend and brother, Walter Hoyt, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Stacey Hoyt and Julia Hoyt; brother Stacey Hoyt and sister Judy Pavlowski.
Charlie was known for his immense love for Jesus, which he instilled in his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, and father who dearly loved his daughters. Known as Poppy, his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also found great pleasure in becoming a great grandfather.
Charlie graduated from trade school and went on to join the Army and serve his country where he spent time in Germany. After leaving the Army, Charlie worked for Clairol in Stamford as a supervisor for 33 years before his retirement. He was a coin collector as well as a lifelong sports fan, especially baseball. He was known as one of the best ball players in his time. After his retirement, Charlie joined the Fairfield Senior Softball Team. Before illness, he loved and looked forward to his bible studies and reading the Bible with the other members of the Trinity Baptist Church in Fairfield. Charlie was also a fierce advocate for changing legislation for victims of crimes which allowed families in the State of Ct. to speak in court. He worked closely with then State Representative, Christopher Shays, in his advocacy. He also was involved with Parents of Murdered Children and his compassion fueled him in helping others. He will always be remembered as a man with a huge heart that dearly loved everyone!
