Colin P. Rooney

Colin P. Rooney, age 54 of Fairfield, formerly of Redding, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in his home. Born in Rockville Centre, NY, the son of the late Henry and Dorothy Rooney, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last five years. A graduate of Marist College, Colin was a retired Securities Trader, having worked in Westport, Wilton, New York and London. A devoted and loving father, he coached baseball for many years for his children in the Redding Boys and Girls Club's athletic program. Survivors include his four cherished children, Rian Rooney of Brooklyn, NY, Tim Rooney, Liam Rooney and Gretchen Rooney all of Redding; his former wife, Margaret Rooney of Redding; a brother, Kevin Rooney of South Bend, IN; a sister, Patrice Basso of Naperville, IL and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM meeting directly at Sacred Heart Church, 30 Church Street, Redding. Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday (Today) from 4-8 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Hope, 636 Old Post Road, Fairfield.
