Daniel J. O'Shea

Daniel O'Shea, age 90, a longtime Fairfield resident, beloved husband of the late Elsie Alexay O'Shea, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 3, 2017. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and a retired US Postal employee. Daniel was an avid golfer at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course, "The Wheel" and was in the "Hole in One" club. He was a member of Circle Lanes senior bowling league. Daniel was a pool player at the Fairfield Senior center and also enjoyed spending time with seniors at McDonald's and Duchess. "Poppy" was a dedicated family man and a devoted grandfather to his 3 grandchildren. He spent countless hours playing "Shoe Store" with MaryKate, building Legos with Kevin, and tossing a ball back and forth with Ryan. He was always on the go socializing with friends at his favorite haunts. Survivors include three daughters, Susan Gulyas and her husband Stephen of Fairfield, Kathleen O'Shea of Fairfield, and Sandra Maher and her husband Stephen of Seymour; and a sister, Julia O'Shea of Fairfield. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10 AM meeting DIRECTLY at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield, CT 06825 with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4-6 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Rd., Fairfield, CT 06824.
