David N. Armonath

David “Dave” N. Armonath, age 69, passed away the afternoon of Friday, October 27, 2023. Born to Robert and Louise (Sabo) Armonath, Dave was a lifelong Fairfield resident. He worked in the Overhaul and Repair department at Sikorsky Aircraft for 20 years, and later worked for Norwalk Vault Company for several years.

Dave, also known as “Moose” by his friends, was a social butterfly and enjoyed meeting, talking to, and laughing with people everywhere he went. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member and past Master of Fidelity – St. John’s Masonic Lodge #3 of Fairfield. He also was a member of the Shriners Fire Brigade.

Antique cars were one of Dave’s great loves. He owned a few of his own, a 1923 Roadster and a 1926 Touring . Dave attended many local car shows, sometimes showcasing his own car, other times to appreciate the other cars on display. Dave became a member of MOALS (Maine Obsolete Auto League) and would often travel up to Maine for car shows with the group.

Dave’s other hobbies included cheering on the Mets and the Jets, as well as for his favorite NASCAR driver, Martin Truex, Jr. He also enjoyed camping; he and his wife, Sue, were seasonal campers at Lone Oaks in Canaan, CT. Dave was the happiest, however, when bonding with his step-son, Rick, whom he thought of more as his own son. Dave loved going out to support Rick in his hobby of flying remote controlled planes with the Country Squire Modelers, often meeting at Sherwood Island Park in Westport.

In addition to his beloved wife of 34 years, Sue Armonath, Dave is survived by his step-son, Rick Moens; two sister-in-laws, Flo Cote, and Ruth Ann (Joe) Cieciuch; a nephew, Del Cote; and two beloved felines, Cece and Al. Dave also leaves behind several very close friends, Jim, Ken, Ned, and Tommy. He is predeceased by a dear friend, Mikey.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 1-3pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dave’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network .
