David F. Calliari

David F. Calliari, age 95, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Ida M. Calliari, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Fayette Township, PA, the son of the late Francis and Emma Calliari, he had been a Fairfield resident for over 50 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran where he received the Purple Heart. Following the War, David received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and his MBA from Rutgers University. He worked as an executive for the Johnson & Jonson Company and retired from Raybestos-Manhattan. Mr. Calliari served as President of Parents & Friends, Lower Fairfield Regional Center and served on the Board of Directors at the Kennedy Center. He was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Church where he always looked forward to volunteering for the annual picnic. An avid and meticulous gardener, David maintained a beautiful lawn and landscape. He was an avid and talented tennis player. Predeceased by his son, Louis, he is survived by his son, David Peter Calliari of Norwalk; a daughter, Anne McKenzie Calliari of Easton; three grandchildren, Danielle, William and Thomas and two great-grandchildren, Amarissa and Meliya. In addition to his son, Louis, he was predeceased by a brother, Louis Calliari, a sister, Lillian Davis and a niece. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Face Masks will be required at church. Interment will be private. A walk through visitation will be held Monday from 4-6 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Face masks will be required to enter funeral home.
