Dolores G. Valentino

Dolores G. Valentino, age 87 of Westport beloved wife of nearly 66 years of George J. Valentino, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Watermark Health Center. Born in York, PA the daughter of the late L. Merle and Rebecca Brown, she had been a Westport resident since 1965. Mrs. Valentino moved to Bridgeport as a young girl and won the title of Miss Bridgeport at the age of 15, and moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career which spanned nearly 25 years. She modeled for Lord & Taylor, the Ford, Frances Gill and Foy modeling agencies. Following her modeling career she attended the New York School of Design and pursued a second career in interior decorating. A devout Roman Catholic, she attended Mass at St. Luke Church in Westport and served for 10 years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Dolores had a true love for animals and would often take in and care for strays. In addition to her loving husband George she is survived by two beloved and devoted daughters, Michele V. Furlong and her husband William E. Furlong of Ashland, MA and Andrée V. Long and her husband Edward A. Long of Westport; two cherished granddaughters, Samantha R. Long and Amanda K. Long; and a step-grandson, Brian W. Furlong. She was predeceased by her brother, W. Franklin Brown. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Entombment will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
