Doris B. Garrity

Doris B. Garrity, age 88, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in Kingston, NY the daughter of the late Walter and Mayme Bator, she had been a Fairfield resident for 66 years. Mrs. Garrity was an active volunteer at Fairfield University; most recently at the Regina Quick Center. She also volunteered at the Westport County Playhouse. Doris served on the Altar Guild at St. Thomas Church and was also a volunteer at the school. Her greatest joy was being a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include five beloved children, Sharon Scully and her husband Kevin of Mashpee, MA, Sean Garrity and his wife Christina of Fairfield, Mary Gumpper and her husband Buddy of Fairfield, Michael Garrity and his wife Carole of Westport and Deirdre Halper and her husband Jon of Westport; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two special sisters-in-law, Anne Garrity of Stratford and Tink Garrity of Scituate, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield.
