Dorothy Hunter Putney

Dorothy Hunter Putney, age 100, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Fairfield Connecticut. She was a resident of Fairfield, Connecticut and lived there for over 50 years. She was born in Shenandoah, Iowa to Ted and Velma Hunter on June 4, 1915. She married Charles B. Putney in October 1940. Dorothy was an active volunteer with several organizations; The Fairfield Women's Exchange, Voter registration, and Mother's Against Drunk Driving. Dorothy is survived by her son Charles Putney and his wife Gráinne of Shankill Ireland, her daughter Janice Putney of New York and her 3 granddaughters; Charlene, Kathleen, and Suzanne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Putney and her sister Elaine Eckerman. Her ashes will be buried next to her husband in Sheridan, Wyoming where they first met.
