Elizabeth S. Kobsa, Phd, age 85, of Stamford, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield. Born in Vienna, Austria, she came to the United States in 1956. She was a judge in family court in Austria prior to beginning a career in teaching in the U.S. While she lived in several states on the east coast during her married life, she found the most happiness in Monterey CA where she spent 15 years of her retirement. In Monterey, she taught Latin, enjoyed classical music, served on the grand jury and volunteered at the Monterey Police Department where she served her community and made lasting friendships. Survivors include a son, Peter H. Kobsa, his wife Carolyn and their children, Jessica and Alexander of Wilton. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey Police Department, Attention Chief Phil Penko, at 351 Madison Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
