Dr. Christ J. Verses

Dr. Christ J. Verses, age 80, of Monroe, beloved husband of Nancy (Auger) Verses, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 8, 2020. Born in Stamford, the son of the late James Verses and Edith Ericcson, he had been a Monroe resident for the last 27 years. A graduate of Stamford High School, he received his BS in Biology from Valparaiso University in 1961 and a PhD in Bacteriology from the University of Connecticut in 1967. Dr. Verses completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He served as an Associate Professor of Biology at Sacred Heart University from 1972-2002, and a director of Allied Health from 1980-1993 at Sacred Heart. He was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. In addition to his loving wife Nancy, Christ will be sadly missed by his daughter, Ann Verses of Stamford; three step-children, Charles Hull of Newtown, Susan Downs Musnicki and her husband Martin of Southbury and Megan Hull of Orange; six cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Alexandria and Timothy Downs, Sarah, Claire and Justin Hull; three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Munson, Kathleen Nardiello and Virgie Kelly. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Anna and James Auger, Joan and Chip Meeker and James Auger. Friends may greet the family Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dogwood Group Home, 425 Dogwood Road, Orange, CT 06477. This is the group home where Megan Hull resides and all donations will be placed in a recreational fund for excursions for the four women who reside there.
