After living a full life, Dr. Amador (Ding) D. Yniguez, 83, passed away on May 14, 2017 in Leawood, KS, surrounded by family and music, eventually succumbing to his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Zenaida (Neddie) R. Yniguez in 2008, daughter, Aleli Y. Taylor in 2006 and parents, Alfredo Sr. in 1989 and Concepcion D. Yniguez in 1973 and 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Amador is survived by his sister, Conchita Y. (Rodolfo) Salcedo, Milwaukee, WI, children: Arlene Y. (John) Frye, Overland Park, KS, Amador R. Jr. (Mireya) Yniguez, Tamarac, FL, Casey A. R.Yniguez, Lakewood Ranch, FL and Alex R. Yniguez, Bradenton, FL, son-in-law, Jeffrey Taylor, Fairfield CT, grandchildren: Christopher, Alena and Bradley Frye, Ryan, Zachary and Lindsay Taylor, Chase Yniguez, and Tatiana and Tyler Yniguez, many nieces and nephews and extended family, Evie and John Purkar, Maria (Rick) Roberto and family, Burlington, MA, and Wanda Otto, KC, MO.
Born in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines, Amador received his Bachelor of Science in 1954 in Agriculture Engineering from University of Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) and was a member of Upsilon Sigma Phi Fraternity. He and Neddie traveled to the US to attend North Carolina State University, where he earned his Master's Degree in 1956, was a Fulbright Scholar and received his Ph.D in Statistics Experimental Design in 1963. His career began as a professor of Math and Statistics at UPLB. The family moved to the US in 1970 after accepting the position as Director of Quality Control with Chiquita Brands initially in Boston, then New York City, Cincinnati and Honduras culminating his career with Geest UK-Banana Co. in Miami. His prior residences included Woburn, MA, Fairfield, CT Cincinnati, OH, and Plantation, FL. He was a Past President, Senior Council of Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City. He was a mentor to many and enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of his colleagues and longtime friends he met along his journey. While his interests were many, including playing basketball in high school and college, it was mainly on the tennis courts where he spent his free time playing with his family and friends and introduced the sport to his children and grandchildren. Most important to Ding was his family~ a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he took so much pride in all his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces with whom his lessons, wisdom and love will carry us forward. A loving and caring man whose huge heart will be dearly missed. He was a gift to us all- he brought his smile, laughter, joy, unconditional love, pride, respect and dignity each day and to each person's life he touched. He modeled his "Road to Life" ~ Be a Good Person and Be Your Best, See the Good in each other, Do What's Right and Respect Others the Way You Want Others to Respect You. He will be Forever Be in Our Hearts and Will Always be Loved. A Funeral Mass will be held on June 24,10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield, CT. A private interment with family and friends at Oaklawn Cemetery, followed by a gathering.Memorial donations suggested to the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108 or Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City, 9810 W 79th St, Overland Park, KS 66204.
