Edward S. Malasics

Edward S. Malasics, age 78, of Fairfield, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2014 with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Joseph and Veronica Malasics he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Dwyer) Malasics. He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Malasics worked for Tower-Olschan before retiring from General Electric Supply. Following his retirement he helped his friends at Federal Electric one afternoon a week. Ed loved spending his time with family and friends (especially with his grandson, Eddie), fishing, watching the New York Giants and using his humor to give people a laugh. Ed is survived by his children: Kelly Malasics of Milford, Sharon Troutman and her husband Lynn of Middletown, Michael Malasics of Fairfield and Susan Balog and her husband Bob of Shelton; his cherished grandson Eddie Balog. He will be missed by his sisters, Anne Krattenmaker of Fairfield, Sister Maryann Malasics of East Haven; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a lifetime of friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Stephen, John and Louis and his sister, Veronica (Malasics) Champagne. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the USO, PO Box 96322, Washington, DC 20090-6322. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Steven Kunkes, Dr. Monique Misra, Dr. Shea Gregg, Donna Kelly, and the compassionate Bridgeport Hospital Staff who cared for him.
