Eileen Crowley, age 83, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at her home in Fairfield. Eileen was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 11, 1938, to the late Norah and Michael Crowley. Her mother was from Tamworth, Staffordshire, England, and her father was from County Kerry, Ireland.
Eileen graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1952 and Bassick High School in 1956, where she made lifelong friends.
Eileen embraced her Irish heritage as an Irish step dancer for numerous years performing and traveling as one of the original Emerald Dancers under the tutelage of teacher, Kathleen Mulkerin, and her School of Irish Dance.
She was employed by Bridgeport Metal Goods, retiring as an Accounts Manager after almost 40 years, leaving her more time for the things she loved.
Eileen’s interest the arts, jazz, and theater, led her to volunteer as an usher at the Kline Memorial while her love of traveling took her around the world. Her travels weren’t limited to escorting her mother to England, visiting family as a teenager. As she grew older, she’d share this love with close friends on trips to Spain, Portugal, Japan, and Ireland to name only a few.
She always kept herself busy, whether it was finding a bargain at tag sales, playing bridge with her friends, day trips with the Easton Senior Center, and of course celebrating life’s milestones with her family.
Eileen lived her life the way she wanted to. She chose her own path and looked back with no regrets. She will be missed tremendously and will be remembered as a strong and independent woman, with a love of travel and an eye for fashion.
Eileen Crowley is survived by her brother-in-law, Jack Dundon of Fairfield, nephew, Scott Chopskie and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull, niece, Alicia Smith and her husband David of Shelton, Robert Dundon and his wife Lisa of Monroe, nephew Gregg Chopskie and his wife Tina of Monroe, and niece, Kathleen Dundon Barreira of Fairfield. Nine grand nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Courtney, Ryan, Brenton, Tyler, Alex, Grayson, and Brenna. Along with parents, Norah, and Michael Crowley, she was predeceased by sisters, Marge Chopskie and Cathy Dundon, and brother-in-law, Jerry Chopskie.
A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of her life will be celebrated Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
