Eileen Foley Fitzpatrick

Eileen Foley Fitzpatrick, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 63 years of the late William J. Fitzpatrick, Jr., passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Sunday, January 13, 2019. Born June 6, 1923 in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice Flanagan Foley, she had been a Fairfield resident since 1952. She was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, class of 1941 and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Albertus Magnus College. Upon graduation, she worked for Parke- Davis Laboratories in Bridgeport where she was given the responsibility of opening up a new Lab in Detroit, Michigan, quite unusual for a young woman in the 1940s. Following World War II, Eileen returned to Connecticut and married long-time sweetheart Bill. She remained at home raising their four children before returning to work in 1968 for the Diocese of Bridgeport. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church for many years and a member of the Mothers' Circle. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family either in Fairfield or at the Fitzpatrick's Wild Rose beach house in Milford or the Twin Lakes house in Salisbury. She and Bill also loved traveling with their friends. Eileen is survived by her four children, their spouses and their families- William, III and Miriam Fitzpatrick and their sons Will and his wife Malu and Kevin; Paul and Michelle Fitzpatrick and their daughters Alanna and Colleen; Alice Ann and Michael Bologna and their children Elizabeth and her husband Matt, Michael, and Laura and her husband Greg; Eileen and Dr. Joseph Fickes and their children Jacqueline, Megan and Michael; a cherished great-granddaughter, Chloe Fitzpatrick; a sister, Virginia Valade and her husband Jay of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Foley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
