Eleanor M. Douglas, age 93, of Southport, beloved wife of the late Alvin L. Douglas, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Jewish Senior Services. She was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor Mylen. She was born in Bridgeport where she grew up in Black Rock and graduated from Bassick High School. She was happily married to the love of her life, Al, for 52 years.
Eleanor and Al raised their three children with whom they loved dearly. She was extremely devoted to her family, as she always loved spending time with them. Her greatest joys in life were being a mother and grandmother. As a successful real estate agent for over 20 years, Eleanor retired from William Pitt Real Estate with several multi-million dollar sales awards. Known for her passion for decorating, she enjoyed spending her free time antiquing with Al in Vermont and sewing. She also enjoyed celebrating her Irish heritage with friends and family, as she was a longtime member of the Gaelic American Club. Eleanor will be remembered as one of the sweetest, kindest, and thoughtful people that one would ever meet. Her beautiful green eyes, strawberry blonde hair, and radiant smile could light up a room. Eleanor’s warmhearted, admirable persona will be missed by all that knew her.
She will be sadly missed by her three beloved children, Linda Hull and her husband Jay of Huntington, Leslie Douglas of Willimantic, and Nancy Schwarz and her husband Ron of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Jay Hull III and his wife Heather of Newtown, Douglas Hull of Huntington, Tyler Schwarz and his wife Megan of Stamford, and Allison Schwarz of Fairfield; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Calleigh Hull; a sister-in-law, Dolores Mylen, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother James Mylen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
