Elizabeth Ann Beeby

Elizabeth Ann Beeby passed away at her home in Fairfield, CT on Monday, September 25 th . Liz was born on December 21, 1960, in Cincinnati, OH. She grew up in Westport, CT on Indian Point Lane, and graduated with the Staples High School class of 1979. She earned her Bachelor’s from University of Arizona in 1985, and completed the Visual Communications Program at Gibbs College in 2005. Her vibrant pilgrimage on earth came to a close at the age of 62.

Affectionately known as ‘Sparky’, Liz was the friend who was bold, thoughtful, fearless, artistic, kind, outrageous, supportive and THE coolest. Once a friend, Liz would give herself completely and loyally to the end. A serendipitous meeting with her around town would always bring excitement. Liz kept in touch with her closest friends daily and treasured those relationships. It wasn’t uncommon to see her wearing minks, feather boas and glitter, belting out the lyrics to ‘Layla’ by Eric Clapton! Along with her angelic beauty, she had a sharp wit when needed.

As a child and teen, Liz was incredibly imaginative and compelling. She created Fort School in the neighboring woods, with elaborate and hilarious tests of worthiness required for entry (everyone had to be in it, of course!) She created an elusive costumed character named “Alice the Maid,” and fooled her little brother into believing Alice lived in the attic and could only be seen when she came out. She made pillows out of cut-off jeans, festooned with sequins and Led Zeppelin lyrics. She used the fold-up emergency fire ladder her parents put under her bed to sneak out and go pool-hopping in the middle of the night. She showed her little brother the cool side of things – taking him to games, concerts, keg parties, and on rides around town with her friends and boyfriends. Liz was dearly loved and will be sorely missed as a sister.

A thoughtful and attentive mother, Liz prepared home cooked meals when her twins arrived home on school evenings, which was never complete without lighting the candles and setting the table with cloth napkins. Her voice could be heard echoing through the house, narrating the day’s adventures and dramas. Liz made every holiday a momentous occasion and opportunity for decoration, pomp and circumstance. The family home at Deane Lane was often filled with high spirits and laughter, especially when a holiday dinner was hosted there. Liz loved her corgis very much and enjoyed making them a part of everything. She helped shape a vision for the careers of her adoring twins, Lex and Rex, for which they will always be grateful, and always emphasized the importance of instilling a strong work ethic. Liz was very proud of her twins and cherished the memories they made together. She leaves them with a treasured deposit of comedic tales from their childhood.

Liz was an accomplished artist, if not a bit reluctant at times. Her work was always well received, much to her joy and surprise. Her assemblage pieces appeared in several Westport Art shows and area auctions. She was an early adapter of Photoshop and used it to create the most imaginative, and often surreal, holiday cards for friends and relatives. “Jewelry Creations by Lucky” was the name of her jewelry design business, which gave her beautiful designs a wider audience. But perhaps her most successful artistic endeavor was the creation of “Moving Memories”, a service which transformed a client’s still photos into a special-occasion video with music and narration on a DVD. Liz’s likeness can be seen in many award-winning photographic works by Westport artist Miggs Burroughs.

Friends & family agree, Liz’s spirit was unique and unrepeatable, she brought a spark into all of our lives and was admired for living her life to the fullest.

A public wake for Liz will take place Friday, November 10 th from 4:00-7:00pm at Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Road in Fairfield.
