Elizabeth C. Johnson

Elizabeth C. Johnson (Sherman), age 92, of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late Daniel R. Johnson, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Mary R. and Joseph B. Sherman. She lived in Bridgeport for many years, moving to Fairfield in 1981. Mrs. Johnson was a receptionist and telephone operator for E. & F. Construction. She was a member of the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport, and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at United for many years. After the death of her husband, she volunteered at St. Vincent's Medical Center in the Pastoral Care Department. She was instrumental, along with Sr. Anna Louise and Sr. Arthur Marie in starting a support group for widows and widowers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Dogga, son-in-law, Robert Dogga of Bridgeport, and grandson Robert James Dogga and his wife Elizabeth A. Dogga of Southington. Due to the current conditions, a private graveside service will be held at Park Cemetery in Bridgeport where Elizabeth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Daniel.
