Elizabeth Ann Poore, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Elizabeth was born on December 30, 1930 in New York, New York to Katherine and Matthew Kelsh. She is predeceased by her loving son, David, her parents and sisters - Dorothy, Marguerite and Mary. Her loving husband, David T. Poore, daughters, Elizabeth A. Poore, Kathleen and Lee Narwold, Mary and Paul Vimini, her sister, Katherine Robson and her cherished grandchildren survive Elizabeth. She possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love and faith. After graduating from the Academy of Sacred Heart of Mary and Berkley School in New York City, Elizabeth worked at Young & Rubicam until she met her loving husband, David T. Poore, on a blind date. They were married on October 11, 1952 at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville, New York. Married for 62 years, Elizabeth & David raised their family in Yonkers, New York, Madison and Fairfield, Connecticut. A woman of faith and the heart of the Poore family, Elizabeth shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. With a zest for life, Elizabeth loved to dance, read, cook, bake, and share her pearls of wisdom through story telling and entertaining. Elizabeth loved watching her four treasured grandchildren grow to young adults and thoroughly enjoyed years of nurturing, and spending time with: Matthew Narwold, Ryan Narwold, Gregory Poore and Sarah Vimini, all of Fairfield, Connecticut. The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday September 25th, 2015 from 4:00pm- 8:00pm at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10 AM meeting DIRECTLY at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, CT. The family will hold interment privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD). The Poore family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support through many acts of kindness from dear family, friends and her Vitas Hospice team, most especially Donna Kelly and Monica Gayle, Gentiva, most especially Danielle Dunphy, and the medical practices of Dr. Neil Smerling, Dr. David Witt, Dr. William Cheuk, and Dr. Jay Meizlish.
