Ethel B. Southard age 94 of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 13, 2021at Jewish Senior Services. Ethel was born on April 5, 1927 to Fred Jones and Elsie (Newhall) Jones and was raised in Stratford CT. Earlier in life, Ethel enjoyed ice skating, boating and synchronized swimming. Later, she developed a passion for dance, music, singing, painting, craft club, gardening, Broadway shows and travel. She was a fan of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and NY Giants. An avid Jiminy Cricket and Disney Movie collector. She cherished her time with family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for many family picnics. Ethel was a dietician at St. Joseph’s Manor until the opening of Mainport Fish & Chips. Her favorite sayings were “It’s Mind over Matter, Life is what you make it, Everyday is a good day” and she stood by that in everything she did. She was willing to try anything. She had a really big heart and was always willing to help others. She was predeceased by her son Mark and her grandson Brett; surviving children are Barry (Valarie), Linda, Renee, and Kim (George) as well as 12 grandchildren Bari, Brendon, Scott, Christian, Ashlee, Stephen, Shantell, Ryan, Cory, Kevin, Jill, Louis and 22 great grandchildren. Her two best friends Yasmine Grajales and Cathy Barker were very near and dear to heart. The family would like to extend a heartful thanks to the incredible staff at Jewish Senior Service. Ethel’s sweet caring nature touched many and will be missed by all.
