Eugene M. Dieringer

Eugene M. Dieringer passed away peacefully at home Friday, June 30, 2017, after living with Parkinson's disease for several years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Leake Dieringer; daughters and sons-in-law, Eugenie and James Verrillo of Stratford, Connecticut, and Diana and Thomas Auchter of Nashua, New Hampshire; sister, Edna R. Dieringer of Far Rockaway, New York; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Barbara Hinkle of Farmersville, Texas and Bill and Debbie Leake of Driggs, Idaho; step sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jennifer Bailey of Allen, Texas, and Brent (Bill) and Tamra Bailey of Richardson, Texas.

He had nine grandchildren, Thomas E. Auchter and his wife Jessica, Alexander B. Auchter, Jeffrey J. Verrillo, Christopher M. Verrillo, Claire Bailey, Luke Bailey, Chloe Bailey, Jake Bailey, and Calista Bailey, as well as many adored nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dieringer was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian French Dieringer; his parents, George M. and Marguerite McKenna Dieringer; two brothers, Joseph Dieringer and George Dieringer; and four sisters, Rita Sellers, Frances Williams, Luise Hines, and Marguerite Allen.

Gene, a New York native, was born in Far Rockaway and attended Bishop Loughlin HS and Hofstra University. His time in the U.S. Army spanned from 1946 to 1952 with service in both WWII and the Korean War. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. Gene joined American Airlines in 1955 as a Ticketing Agent at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports. He retired in 1987 after a distinguished career where he served as a Sales Manager in both New York City and Washington, D.C., Airport General Manager in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Director of Marketing and Consumer Affairs at headquarters in New York. He moved to Texas in 1979 when American relocated its corporate headquarters to Dallas-Fort Worth. He is a past President of the AA Three Diamond Society, and a member of the DFW Vanguards, the Worldwide Airline Consumer Relations Association, and the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals of Dallas-Fort Worth. He participated in "Christ Renews His Parish" at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denison, Texas, and attended Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church of Allen, Texas. Gene has been an active participant and supporter of the Parkinson Voice Project in Richardson, Texas for the past three years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home, Highway 75, Exit 38A, Ridgeview Drive, McKinney, Texas 75070.

A funeral mass, officiated by Monsignor John Bell, will be held Thursday, July 6, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1914 Ridgeview Drive, Allen, Texas 75013.

There will be a graveside service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Connecticut Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested your gift in his memory be directed to Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and/or the Parkinson Voice Project, 646 N. Coit Road, Richardson, Texas 75080.
