Frank J. Slovensky, age 95, of Fairfield beloved husband of 67 years of Katherine (Kay) Kruzshak Slovensky, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family Saturday, April 28, 2018. Born in Fairfield, the son of the late Frank and Theresa Slovensky, he had been a lifelong town resident. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II assigned to Company B 12th Infantry Regiment. He fought in the Northern France, Rhineland and the Ardennes campaigns where he received the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 9427 and the American Legion Post 74. For many years Frank proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance at Fairfield's Memorial Day Parade. He retired following nearly 30 years of service from Avco-Lycoming. A parishioner for many years of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, he was an active member of the St. Thomas Seniors. One of Frank's greatest joys was spending time working in his yard and tending to his gardens. In addition to his loving wife Kay, he will be sadly missed by his three children: Mark F. Slovensky and his wife Nancy of Florida, Gail C. Williams and her husband John of Milford and TerryAnn M. Krauchick and her husband Stephen of Fairfield; two sisters, Kathleen Zinner of New Jersey and Elizabeth Lebinski and her husband Francis of Stratford; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters. Friends may greet the family Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Victor Martin officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery Mausoleum.
