Frederick Arthur Billings, of Fairfield, CT, passed away on April 7th 2016. He was born in Hancock, Maine, on December 20, 1931. Fred grew up in Seal Harbor, Maine, and was attached to Mt. Desert Island his entire life. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, he graduated from The University of Maine and attended The University of Connecticut Law School. Fred retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Labor. His many hobbies outside of work included wood working, boat building, oil painting, Asian studies, classical guitar playing, and hiking the Appalachian Trail. Fred was predeceased by his parents, John and Evelyn Ritchie Billings, his sister Marie Walch and her husband Harold, and by his brother Dr. Richard Billings and his wife Jill. He is survived by his wife NoelAnn; his stepchildren Christopher T. Biro and his wife Yoshie and grandson Coleton, Edward G. Biro and granddaughter Gabriela, and Meghan M. Biro and her husband Ron Perkins; his brother, David and his wife Muriel Billings, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Fairfield, CT on Saturday April 23rd, 2016 at 11 o'clock AM. The family will also hold a memorial gathering to celebrate Fred's life in Seal Harbor later this year, and his remains will be interred at the Seal Harbor Cemetery at that time.
