George Richard Bisacca

George Richard Bisacca of Fairfield, Connecticut passed away a month shy of his 90th birthday on May 8th, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut on June 4, 1928, George was the son of Florence and Pat Jordan. He was married to his beloved wife, Mildred Jayne for 67 years, who passed away on December 24, 2016.

He was a member of the first graduating class at Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1946 and graduated from Georgetown University and Georgetown Law School. George founded and maintained a respected law practice in his hometown of Fairfield for the majority of his life. Even while a practicing attorney, he made time to act as head coach of Fairfield University Basketball from 1958-1968 and as Athletic Director from 1962-1971. A beloved and renowned figure, George was often referred to as the "Father of Fairfield Basketball." In honor of his commitment to the university, the basketball court was dedicated in his name in 2015. George served as Counsel to the National Imitational Tournament and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

He completed his legal career with Cummings and Lockwood in Stamford. In retirement, George continued his passion for basketball by coaching a professional team in Bologna, Italy (Virtus) and later acted as General Manager to a team in Pesaro, Italy (Scavolini). He also cared deeply about giving back to the community. He mentored and coached inner-city children at Bridgeport's Archbishop Sheehan Center and took on pro-bono legal work in support of local environmental and conservation causes and matters of justice. George was a selfless giver, a mentor and teacher to many, and a man of great intellect and deep-seated philosophies.

George will be deeply missed by his brother, Pat Jordan and wife Susan, his children: Beth Schrager and her husband Harley, Mary DeVito, George Bisacca and his wife Bria, Barbara Lehn, Joan Casanova, Joseph Bisacca and his wife Kirsten; his grandchildren, Tony Schrager and his wife Carissa, Lois Goodner and her husband Blake, Danielle and Gabriella DeVito, Talia Silvestro and her husband Anthony, Briana DeVito, David Lehn and his wife Eva, Benjamin, Samantha, Nicholas Lehn and his fiancé Victoria, Eva Casanova and Julian Bisacca along with his great grandchildren; Henry Lehn and Clara Lehn Temkin, Ava Lebron, Everett and Elon Schrager, Harley, Shyla and Colt Goodner, Dominick and Rosalie Silvestro.
