George E. Larsson, age 94 of Wallingford, formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of both the late Ruth Berger Larsson and Priscilla Phelps Larsson, passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late George and Lydia Larsson, he had been a Bridgeport area resident for most of his life. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the War, he graduated from Bassick High School and began a lengthy career as a service technician, working for Smith-Corona Marchant and Olivetti. An active member of the Masonic Order, George was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Corinthian Lodge # 104 A.F. & A.M., Past Patron of the Azalea Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, served as Past District Deputy of the State of Connecticut and was the oldest living Past Grand Patron for the State of CT. Mr. Larsson was a Boy Scout Leader for many years at for Troop 36 in Bridgeport and a Past President of the Scandinavian Club in Fairfield. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors include two children; Ellen Picard and her husband Roger of Williamsburg, VA and Eric Larsson and his wife Veronica of Trumbull; a step-son, Eric Phelps and his wife Marilyn of Crestview, FL; seven grandchildren: Karl and Matthew Picard, Eileen, Eric, Gregory, Thomas and Erin-Rose Larsson; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Propps; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Sweet and her husband Jack of Shelton, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mabel French. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield with the Rev. Dr. Thomas P. Groome, III officiating. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 a.m. until the service time in the church parlor.
