Glenn M. Barnhard, age 62, of Fairfield, beloved husband and best friend of Missy Barnhard, passed away suddenly Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Milton and Ruth Barnhard, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 28 years. Glenn received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts where he played the drums in the UMass Minuteman Marching Band. He later received a BS in Architecture from Cornell University. In 1987 Glenn established Glenn M. Barnhard, A.I.A. Architect in Fairfield. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a member of the AIA/CT Board of Directors, the AIA/CT Education Committee (Chair), AIA/CT Small Firms Roundtable Chairperson, and the AIA/CT Public Relations Committee. An active member of the Fairfield community, Glenn was a long-time active member of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club serving on all executive positions including President, Treasurer, and Presidential Advisor. He was truly the hardest working and most dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club and was instrumental in carrying out the many club projects intended to raise money for the community. He was a recipient of the Kiwanis Red Jacket in recognition of his hard work and dedication. He was a past member of the Fairfield Historic District Commission, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the CT Trust for Historic Preservation. Glenn coached Fairfield Little League and basketball at Wakeman's Boys and Girls Club. He was a kind, generous, and dedicated husband and father who delighted in spending time with his family and friends. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Missy include three beloved sons, Grant M. Barnhard and his wife Lymor of Baltimore, MD, Drew R. Barnhard and his fiancé Claire Horton of Delray Beach, FL and Cameron B. Barnhard of Fairfield; a sister, Tracey Thanky and her husband Prakash of Austin, TX; a niece, Mallika Thanky and a nephew, Amol Thanky. A service celebrating Glenn's life will held Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carolan Room of the Gaelic American Club, 74 Beach Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in Glenn's memory may be made to either the Fairfield Kiwanis Club, P.O.
