Gloria Almeida

Gloria Y. Almeida, 85, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 3, 2024. She was the beloved wife to Alfredo Almeida for over 47 years. Gloria was born August 6, 1939 in Ecuador to the late Jorge and Victoria Cisneros.

Upon her immigration to the United States, Gloria honed her skills as a natural caregiver and worked for 30 years for the State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services. She was a force to be reckoned with and was always on the go. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting. 

She loved to play cards with her siblings and the weekly card games were never missed. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her adored grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters; Jennifer (Peter) Piazza, and Jessica Almeida. She leaves behind two beloved grandchildren Elias and Natalia, and sisters Gladys (Fayez) Bechara, Blanca Leonila Cisneros, Geomar (Lee) Pereira, Marcia Cisneros, Martha (Napo) Peñaherrera, Sonia (Wilson) Santiana, Monica Cisneros; her brothers Charles (Joan) Cisneros, Guillermo Cisneros; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Jorge Oswaldo, George Cisneros and Ligia Cisneros, nephews Richard Cisneros, David Santiana and niece, Lisa Bechara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 11, 2024 at 10 AM at St Andrew’s Catholic Church, 435 Anton Ave. Bridgeport, C
