Gloria C. Blewitt, age 90, of Southport, beloved wife of the late Roy E. Blewitt, Jr. passed away peacefully Thursday, November 13, 2014 in her home. Born in New York City the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Carreras, she had been a Southport resident for the last 55 years. She graduated Cum Laude from Good Council College in White Plains with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Gloria worked in New York City and Chicago prior to her marriage to Roy. After raising her family, she returned to work as Assistant Comptroller and Credit Manager for the Jelliff Corporation in Southport. A woman of deep faith and a love for Christ, Gloria was an active long-time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church where she recently was appointed Trustee for the Ladies Guild and was active in prayer groups. She also was a member of the Gaelic American Club and many years previously, the AAUW, where she served as Treasurer. Gloria loved golf, travelling, playing bridge and cooking for her family and friends. Survivors include five beloved children, Denise B. Floyd and her husband William of Towson, MD, Diane B. Camillo and her husband Gary of Fairfield, Roy E. Blewitt, III and his wife Deborah of Louisville, KY, Donna J. Blewitt of Southport and Mary E. Blewitt of Middletown; a brother, E. Robert Carreras and his wife Sharon of Park Forest, IL; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Roy, she was predeceased by two brothers, her twin, Robert Carreras and the elder brother William Carreras. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. A private interment will be held Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 pm in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Divine Compassion, 52 N. Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603.
